I guess that headline is out the window. They just announced two new candidates for congress. One in the 25th and one in the 7th district. Both held by republicans. and from my understanding the guy running in the 25th was running as a Democrat and has now left the party to run as a Whig.

If Palin plans to run as anything but a Republican, she'd do better to simply run as a Libertarian...starting a new party at this point to specifically appeal to Palin followers would merely attract libertarian-Republicans and conservatives, without a chance of challenging the powerful Democratic Party.

The three candidates are making headway the old fashion way. I called and spoke with the chairman of the party and he explained the history of the Florida Party, the national party, and how many candidates they are planning on running. This group appears highly organized.

In a way, stories like this inspire hope; in a way they are discouraging. Even with major Republicans supporting Hoffman, there are many more who seem to believe that their party's power is more important than its values. "Support the Republican, so we can beat the Democrat!" That's not what it's about! Voters most come to recognize that political ideologies are much more important than political parties.

The only other established party in Illinois is the Green Party. LeAlan Jones is the Senatorial candidate, but was not included in this poll. Rich Whitney is running for governor. He ran in 2006 and received over 10% of the vote, establishing the Green Party. Keep your eyes on the Illinois Green candidates.

Lynne Williams is the Green Party candidate for governor in Maine. The Greens are fairly strong in Maine and have previously elected a State Rep and done well in gubernatorial campaigns.

The Star Ledger's endorsement of Chris Daggett is great news. I wish the republicans would stop the Bush/Rove Fear mongering. There is obviously a consensus that a vote for Daggett is not a vote for Corzine, except among those who use mass psychological terror to promote their own agendas.

Daggett is the only viable candidate and there are many of this who are voting for him because we know he can win and is the only candidate who can change this state. The Star Ledger's endorsement echoes and re-affirms that Daggett is a viable candidate and can win.

Furthermore, Daggett is now polling at 18% and there even rumors on that NYC Mayor Micheal Bloomberg will endorse Daggett. If Still think Daggett Can't win then read this to find out why your wrong. 11 Years ago Jesse Ventura was polling in the low teens, much lower than Daggett just three weeks before the election and he won.

We need people to get involved and spread the word about Chris Daggett because to vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil.

Of course they should. A vote for daggett is a vote for daggett. Every possible editorial favors daggett. they are the only ones seeing through the tv and radio negative ads(surprisingly).

Corzine complaining about Christie Being fat. Christie complaining about photo-ops and emails. Both candidates can do little more than to sidetrack voter's from the fact they both duck the issues and offer no real plan.

Why not write about the issue that matter, like the plaque of corruption and scandal that has been brought on our state or how you plan on dealing with the exodus of business, residents and income from our state? No let's complain about photo-ops, emails and people being fat.

However, as echoed by the Star Ledger endorsement of Chris Daggett, we finally have chance to change all of this.NJ voter's are the only ones that have the power to change our government

There's a movement catching on in Florida. I've been watching the website of the Florida Whig Party (www.floridawhig.com) and they are preparing to announce two more congressional candidates. They have a retired Chief of Police of the NY and NJ Port Authority as the Vice Chair. The website recently changed and they have a lot of information going up daily plus a short radio show each day. Interesting. I signed up for their email list called the HOOT. The name Modern Whig, as far as I can see, is a national party and Florida is the state party and they have ballot access which is a big deal. I will continue watching and will switch from NPA to Florida Whig Party FWP later this week!
